Become a Resident of Edgerton!

Edgerton is not a booming metropolis with all the accompanying metropolitan problems - we guarantee that.  We have a consistent, simplistic and pleasant environment in which to reside and raise a family.  If you need the bustling, fast-paced life and shopping malls, you can live here and enjoy our small-town advantages along with 2,117 other people, yet find the bustle of the faster life 40-60 miles to the east or west of us.  If it's a large chain store like Wal-Mart or K-Mart, or fast food, that you desire, they're only 10 minutes away.  Edgerton retail and commercial businesses provide the essentials for a quality life with the peacefulness of living in the country.  We emphasize family values in our community, which assures that our "small town atmosphere" doesn't get away from us.

Along with contemporary homes, many other homes in our village are historic, and new construction is available on scattered lots or in two developing subdivisions.  These developments will add up to 125 new homes to our community when completed.  Apartments and duplexes are available as well.  Our property values, whether residential, farm, commercial, retail or industrial, are very favorable in comparison to larger communities.

Edgerton has three developed recreational parks containing 45 acres as well as recreational areas at our schools.  Facilities include playground equipment, ball diamonds, tennis courts, open and closed shelter houses, picnic areas and a lake with a public beach and fishing.  Other sports such as soccer, ice hockey, ice skating rings, hunting, cross country skiing, golf and volleyball are readily available within minutes of our village.

Our village has many fine churches to teach morals and values which include United Methodist, Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Lutheran, Christian Missionary Alliance, and Catholic.

Occupational opportunities abound in northwest Ohio, specifically in Williams County.  Besides our own industrial base, the city of Bryan is nearby, as are Montpelier, Holiday City and Pioneer among others.  The injection molded plastic business is very active in our county.  Area workers have a strong work ethic and are loyal and dedicated to their employers.  Jobs in numerous fields of endeavor are available locally as well as within a 20-30 minute drive in any direction.

As a resident of the Village of Edgerton, you will enjoy plenty of clean water, low cost electric and heating fuels, and all the municipal comforts you desire including cable TV service.  Williams County is known for its virtually unlimited water supply, known throughout history as a place where clean water can literally be consumed as it comes out of the ground without processing.  This is one community where you can wash your car then rinse it and it will dry virtually without spots because our water is so pure and free of contaminants!  At the turn of the century, scientists came to investigate the healing qualities of mineral waters in this area and they were amazed that one could, according to newspaper reports, literally stick a pick axe in the ground and water would spurt forth -  making well drilling pretty well effortless.  Our electricity rates are some of the lowest you'll find anywhere because we are a "public power" community and cooperative member of AMP-Ohio, Inc. a non-profit co-op located in Columbus, Ohio.  Our municipal electric service is very reliable with our newly refurbished village distribution system and substation which gives us a backup link to a second power grid.  Natural gas and propane also have excellent rates in comparison to many other communities, making the Village of Edgerton an economical place to live.

The Village of Edgerton has an excellent cross section of merchants, recreational facilities and health facilities, totaling approximately 90 businesses.  The community has a number of men's and women's service clubs and social organizations to meet the varied interests of the community.  Active organizations include the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Lions Club, American Legion and Auxiliary, Masons, Knights of Columbus, Business and Professional Women, Garden Clubs and a variety of booster clubs totaling 23 social organizations.

A community-sponsored annual festival features a talent show, parade, carnival activities, a Citizen of the Year competition, queen contest and all-around great fun for the entire community.  Whether the activity is civic, athletic, fraternal, or social, Edgerton accommodates the interests of everyone of every age.

In Edgerton you will find community involvement, good friends, honest "handshake" agreements being kept and community pride.  We'd like you to visit us soon and consider becoming part of us as well.  Try us and you'll love us!
